Structural Issues After Getting Asylum – Jobs, Language and High Suicide Rates

RFSL Newcomers will raise an issue that we believe is not discussed enough in civil society. Once LGBTQIA+ refugees are granted asylum in Sweden, they face a new set of structural discrimination while job-seeking, finding  accommodation, learning language and in regards to legal matters. In this transitionary period the assistance received from the state is much less than during their asylum seeking process. What are the challenges and consequences of this inequality and how does it impact LGBTQIA+ people?
