Malmö Pride is the festival that brings color to the summer in Malmö since 1995. Malmö Pride spreads both knowledge of HBTQIA (Gay, Bisexuals, Transgender, Queer, Intersex, Asexual, and non-sexual or binary gender norms) and joy to the city. The festival is a party for everyonewhere the HBTQIA movement makes its voices heard, even for those who can not.
Malmö Pride’s goal is both to share knowledge, entertainment, opinion formation and to create of a social meeting place. The festival’s target group is Malmö City residents and the rest of Skåne and parts of the Oresund region. We welcome international as well as national visitors. HBTQIA issues is a part of human rights that concern all people. Consequently, the content of the festival should contain a broad spectrum so that there is something interesting / fun / thoughtful for everyone regardless of background, sexual orientation, function variation, identity, ethnicity or age. We believe in public education and to highlight important issues for people around the world. Emphasis must be placed on the situation of HBTQIA people in society. The festival will highlight the importance of work for equal rights, commitment, respect and inclusion. The festival will work for a non prejudice society with zero tolerance for discrimination and hate crime. We also want to work with information activities, cooperation with trade and industry, county council, state and other non-governmental organizations.
Through our arrangements and partners, we aim to reach out to all the different parts of society to spread information about HBTQIA issues. Malmö Pride stands up for everyone’s equal value and rights. Malmö Pride creates community as well as counteracts marginalization. Malmö Pride shall be unbound, both politically and religiously. Everyone is equally welcome to participate regardless of ethnicity, gender, gender identity or expression, age, disability, sexual orientation, sexuality, beliefs, HIV status, socioeconomic background or asylum status. All who participate should show respect to others even if they don’t have the same values. A qualification for being a partner / sponsor of Malmö Pride is to support Malmö Pride’s values and goal of equal value for all people and to improve the situation for HBTQIA people.
Malmö Pride is an annual recurring, creative, growing and professionally organised festival whose purpose is to be a natural part of Malmö’s range of recurring events.
